Election to the 1965 Committee (‘the exec’) occurs at UWCA’s Annual General Meeting (AGM), typically held in mid-March, by a First-Past-the-Post vote.
If a member of the 1965 Committee resigns or is otherwise unable to fulfil their duties, an Emergency General Meeting (EGM) may be called in accordance with the methods outlined in the constitution. Furthermore, an EGM can be scheduled for a vote of no confidence in – and thereby remove – any member of the Committee if a member of the society collects the signatures of half the membership.
In order to be eligible to vote at an election, you must have been a full member for at least 30 days prior to the vote.
Standing for Election
In order to stand for election, you must have been a full member for at least 30 days prior to the vote. No member may hold more than one position on the Committee, and no member may stand for election for more than two positions at any one General Meeting. However, it is possible for two individuals to share the same position, providing that they are both full members and hold no other position on the Committee.
